|WHAT IS THE MARINE COUNCIL?|
The Marine Council is a not-for-profit trade association whose mission is to serve as The Guardian of the Marine Community in Miami Dade County. Given the many challenges that marine interests now face - this mission is even more important today than it was when the Marine Council was founded more than 40 years ago.
While its membership represents all facets of the local marine community, the Marine Council’s primary focus is on the recreational marine industry where it remains the leading advocacy group for recreational boating interests in Miami-Dade County.
The Marine Council offers three main benefits to its members
KNOWLEDGE. SUPPORT. SYNERGY.
KNOWLEDGE. Knowledge is power. The Council's membership and Board of Directors represent hundreds of years of experience in and knowledge about the local marine industry and the many issues with which it must contend. The Council uses that knowledge to educate its membership and to keep them apprised of important developments in and around Greater Miami's and South Florida's marine industry.
SUPPORT. The Marine Council recognizes that it exists to support and further the interests of its members in any way possible. This support can occur in many different arenas: governmental, legal, regulatory, environmental, member services, technical expertise and in the many aspects of running a business in our ever-more-complicated industry. The Council also provides opportunities for networking and business referrals so that members can help advance their own businesses.
SYNERGY. The Marine Council strongly believes in strategic alliances and industry partnerships. That is why the Council has strong and ongoing partnerships with other organizations with similar focus including: The Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF), the Miami River Marine Group (MRMG), the Miami River Commission (MRC), the Florida Yacht Brokers' Association (FYBA), the City of Miami Waterfront Advisory Board (WAB), the National Marine Manufacturers' Association (NMMA), Shake-A-Leg Miami, and many local boating organizations such as the Coral Reef Yacht Club, the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club and the Coconut Grove Sailing Club.
