The main issues, projects, or entities the Marine Council is currently focusing on are:

• Loss of working waterfront
• Boaters access to the waterfront and to waterways
• Developing the best possible Virginia Key Master Plan
• Maintaining and assisting in the growth of the local marine industry
• Furthering our strategic alliances and beneficial programs from same
• Improving the marine industry's relationship with and appreciation by local government
• The realization of Biscayne Bay as a sustainable resource that can be enjoyed by all
• The recognition of the marine industry as an important part of the local economy
• Expansion of storage and repair facilities to better serve all of our boaters
• Better preparation for hurricanes by the local marine community
